The MOAC…..or, ‘mother of all conspiracies’
Friedrich Nietzsche’s ‘last man’ meets the ‘new world order’.
A Covid Coda post.
Sometimes I really wonder what people want……last year for example it seemed as though most people just wanted to be safe , to be told what to think and what to do, what and who to be afraid of and absolutely not to think , question and speak independently . They, the unthinking grey masses wore their masks, cut themselves off from contact with friends and loved ones, obeyed every ‘rule’, accepted every untruth and even began to hate those whom they were told to hate.
Meanwhile, those who did question the great lie or sought to find the objective truth were quickly labelled as conspiracy theorists and quickly dismissed, censored , cancelled or even arrested and punished. Thus society learned what it could not say, the questions it could not ask and who it could not challenge because it’s new religious dogma was the new truth.
Lets start with this strange idea of ‘The last man‘ (Friedrich Nietzsche)
Most readers who are following my blog or whom have read some basic work on Nietzsche will be familiar with his lament ‘god is dead’, some will even be familiar with his predictions of what the outcome would be – nihilism, despair and the rise of pseudo-religions. Most will have heard of the ‘ubermensch’ even if only through the twisted lens of Nazi ideology , but few will have come across his reckoning of the ‘last man’. While many think that he was pushing for the idea of going beyond good and evil and instead becoming like gods what he was actually saying was that the masses would decline in strength and become the ‘last man’……only seeking safety and comfort.
Iv’e said before that I see all this in my own way – through the lens of being a retired nurse and simple sailor but it seems to me that Nietzsche was right and that what most people want, in some form or another is safety and comfort. In one way we could simply say that there is a modern safety culture that among other things seeks to protect the young from harm – one argument is that the current child bearing population in the west does so because it is generally only having one child per couple and must therefore protect the one child from all harm. Thus many young people grow up with high risk aversion and also a sickening sense of narcissism and entitlement.
Perhaps the worst examples of ‘safety culture’ are the young people who go to university to study useless degrees and must, above all, never be psychologically challenged once indoctrinated in their ‘me’ culture.
It often seems to me that most college age kids don’t read, certainly nothing that might challenge their self belief and entitlement – it seems also to be true that most people don’t read at all but can only function as consumers of cheap TV programmes ; my daily experience of a hospital staff room for example was usually a discussion about something like a Netflix series or maybe ‘strictly’ (come dancing). In ‘bloke’ culture it’s mostly sports of course .

Now, lets add some good old everyday conspiracy theory.
I don’t like conspiracy theory because mostly I find it unnecessary , preferring instead Occam – often thought of as ‘Occam’s razor’ or the principle of parsimony which is another way of saying that the simplest explanation is usually the right one. Alongside Occam iv’e always given a nod to Hanlon’s razor as well (stupidity rather than malice). Conspiracy theory is almost always messy and includes stuff that just isn’t needed to explain what happened , or, as Iv’e said before , that people or organizations are simply doing what they do thus big government just wants power and big pharma just wants huge profits without legal liabilities.
For those that do like their conspiracies then the last 2 years have either been a lot of fun or total overload when it looks as though conspiracy between pharma and governments really happened and not just that but that many governments were being influenced or subverted by an organization that is acting as though it is a one world government body (the WEF). Add to that the social media giants seeming to act together most of the time – strange how the same person gets their accounts banned on multiple sites all at once ; and then there is the legacy media ignoring anything and everything that isn’t in the ‘right’ narrative.
Love it or hate it……but there’s been plenty to work with and I can only guess that there is a lot more to come.

What about the MOAC then ?……..what is it precious ?
Right then – the ‘MOAC’ or ‘mother of all conspiracies is what you get when you look in one direction that isn’t the standard rational one, ignores Occam and Hanlon and instead says a big ‘what if’ and ascribes everything happening in the world that feels wrong to not only actually be wrong but which is part of pure evil or pure malice. To start to understand the MOAC we don’t just leave calm rationalism and take a step in the dark but we actually need to take several steps into darkness but, as they say, please don’t try this at home.
Writing this on a warm and sunny Monday morning feels a bit like jumping off a cliff into icy water – and it should , I feel, because what i’m talking about is nothing less than the ‘end days’ or , slightly humorously ‘it’s the end of the world as we know it…….and I feel fine’ *……except that i don’t and shouldn’t. While joking around with my posts I sometimes blame the epoxy fumes or paint fumes ; with this one though i’m writing it in the full and sober realization that if this is what I think it is then we are facing the worst crises that humanity has ever faced.
As I write I can almost feel my thinking splitting off in two directions at once : on the one hand I so just want to be wrong and just get ignored or ridiculed – that’s fine, but on the other I think I begin to get a grasp on some of the things that could happen and which could overshadow the horrors of the early and mid twentieth century. It is my earnest desire that I am wrong, that I will live out my life in sleepy east Cornwall, messing about with my boat and working in our garden…….but…..every sense I have is telling me that it’s all going horribly wrong – and deliberately, maliciously so.
Trying to make light of this just for a moment I was thinking yesterday of one of the famous passages in the late Douglas Adams’s ‘Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy’ in which the 2 main protagonists are picked up by a spaceship that has an ‘infinite improbability drive’ – being plucked out of hard vacuum space has a very high level of improbability. Once aboard the ship the improbability drive slowly winds down and ends up with a ‘normal’ level of improbability and, as pointed out, everything you’re left with is just your own paranoia.
A little bit of history and context.
I thought it best to give readers a bit of a get out clause so here goes : I grew up in England’s east Anglia with an RAF station a few miles up the road one way and a USAF base a few miles in the opposite direction, then, a few more miles away in the flatlands of Lincolnshire and Norfolk were the huge runways of our own airborne nuclear strike force. Iv’e said before that my teenage confession was that I was a teenage nihilist and why I got into this I don’t know but that I believed that an all out nuclear war with the former Soviet Union was perhaps inevitable if premier Kruschev got his way. Us, being the shit sandwich in a city situated between several large nuclear bomber equipped bases plus being a major transport hub I thought was likely to be a prime target for a Soviet missile or two : I thought then that our world would end in a flash under a mushroom cloud or some time later from radiation poisoning or just perhaps as society broke down.
Why I was drawn to that I don’t know – I remember that I studied it to some extent and kind-of knew that the ‘ticking clock’ of apocalypticism started with the re-establishment of the state of Israel in 1948. Then, like many of my generation I gradually forgot about it all over time as I found my own way of escaping into the great outdoors, found a job and then a career and then suddenly most of a life has passed and ‘it’ hasn’t happened. The question I ask myself is “why now ?” – by which I am asking why does it feel far more likely now than it did back in the 1970’s : well, I don’t have a single answer or compelling cause but as with most conspiracies a whole load of things seem to be coming together that we had no inkling about 50 years back.
Back then there were maybe just a few badly written softback books on the subject – almost designed to scare rather than anything else – today of course we have an entire internet and even the most cursory search brings up pages and pages of links. I’m concerned, as I should be, about the way the internet algorithm’s work – if I search for and watch one Youtube clip about the end times then as soon as I refresh the page I get another dozen pushed at me. That leads down a rabbit hole of confirmation bias where sometimes exactly what we need is the opposite view.
I think it was evolutionary biologist Bret Weinstein who pointed out during the Covid pandemic a huge rise in the number of people rushing to any kind of grand conspiracy, as iv’e said several times before that didn’t really happen to me regarding the pandemic and for the reasons that iv’e already given. In my case I seem to have ‘jumped behind enemy lines’ with this one rather then being stuck at the immediate event horizon of plague, famine, war, civil unrest, lies, false flags and so on and so forth.
You all know that I rather like my modern cultural references so……..

So, in terms of dropping a post on a Monday morning this one is a bit beyond what I normally write about so what iv’e been doing is letting it sit ‘on the blocks’ for a few days while I got on with building a boat and writing some other posts about boat related stuff. My big problem was where to go with all of this and a problem within the problem is that any internet search throws up a thousand different takes and opinions- I don’t want to be rude but several of the sources I sat through watching seemed like just so many hucksters posing as neatly business suited hucksters and at the far end of that was anything from guesstimates of the hour and the day or an exposition of why the pope has something written on his hat that translates (somehow) as the number of the beast ……..it all gets a bit weird !.
Opinions – i’m happy to say that my opinion counts for nothing, in fact i’m still quite fond of using the medical dictum that ‘opinions are like ars*holes‘ – ie that everyone’s got one. What I have always found a lot more interesting is not so much the opinion but how the person gets there and for example how they read and interpret the source material they chose to refer to. Obviously this all should come from the bible ; I checked with a basic source and found that there are some 159 verses in the bible that relate to this so there’s a lot to go on.
I thought it best though to finish this post not with opinions but with a basic road map of how I got from working on my anchor stowage one morning to thinking about the apocalyptic end times before lunchtime.
First then, my starting points were from Nietzsche – the first of those being his lament and prediction of the death of god and what would follow it ; one element of that being nihilism and another being a loss of direction and meaning. The second point I am taking from him is his further prediction that man would descend and degrade into becoming ‘the last man’ and as I said earlier the last man is only concerned for his safety and his comfort.
Nietzsche himself didn’t have much regard for Christianity but he does seem to be saying that up until the time he was writing it was a stabilizing influence and perhaps a restraining one -take away the moral direction of a society and also take away moral restraint and what we ended up with were firstly the twin horrors of Nazism and Communism , and, I would suggest that in our lifetime it gave us the sexual revolution except seen as ‘anything goes’ because ‘nothing matters’.
Today, i’m going to skip the next part of what I intended to write because although I might find it interesting and relevant it’s not necessary to my central theme – just for reference I was going to talk about the social evil of unbridled and unrestrained corporate profit – stated briefly and through the eyes of a simple sailor on the one hand we have hugely wealthy billionaires launching superyachts while in their companies employees are treated like feudal serfs who aren’t even ‘permitted’ to use the bathroom.
Instead, and to complete the great conspiracy , at least for today, I have to jump to one piece of the prophetic literature and it’s a few lines of scripture thus……
“Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness[a] is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.”
To get a handle on this and why it is so important I had to go looking – I would never have got there myself but…..what this seems to be pointing at is a group of events that include a removal of restraint and that once that happens mass lawlessness , apostasy and a great ‘lie’ take over the minds of many. I’ll get it so completely wrong that I suggest that the best thing (if you’re interested) is to listen to a genuine bible scholar and one who looks and talks more like a blue collar chippy than a slick looking used car salesman.
This is a short outtake from a longer video – this version is only 12 minutes long and worth a watch.
