If now you’re sitting at your computer, smartphone or whatever your choice of addictive tech device is and going ‘now wtf’ – on seeing the title of today’s post – then I should explain that it’s the same kind of word play that started with the name of my Dutch canvas tent (Zilvermiuew) and ends with the post title being ‘Travels with my shite-hawk. In that example, although I do so dislike having to explain my puns, word play and lame jokes, Zilvermiuew is the Dutch name for a Herring Gull and a Herring Gull is basically a big fat waste tip Seagull and those in sailing speak are simply Shite Hawks.
With this post my intention was to slip in an occasional polemical post – largely my own ‘angry white man’ (Nevill) post by calling it something entirely different : work out your own route from regular polemical post to Monthly Pole Dance. The great thing is that very few will even notice or even care what my opinions are but it does help me with shouting at the car radio – which is something that really annoys my partner. My problem with writing these polemical posts isn’t that my opinions have no worth whatsoever but that there is so much that riles me up that this could easily turn into a Daily Pole Dance and then I would never get around to doing what I should be doing every day : at the moment that being a combination of writing an alternative historical fiction and/or making an attempt at daily work and exercise with another failing and painful knee joint – iv’e only got two btw and already had one of then get new bearings.
I have to get selective otherwise i’ll be here all day so coming in at No 1 on this month’s Monthly Pole Dance charts is our wonderfully smart, liberal and progressive universities – or at least their student bodies – choosing to celebrate today, as I write. Today in writing time is October 7th about which I shouldn’t have to say anything but our universities have chosen to celebrate as a good and laudable thing. I can barely express my disgust at what I can only describe as a manifestation of evil : the celebration of rape, murder and hostage taking by Palestinian terrorists two years ago.
In second, third and fourth places this month comes the attack on a Jewish synagogue on their holiest day of the year and by all accounts (so far) done by an Islamist by the name of Jihadi. In third place comes our own PM who doesn’t have the courage to call out Islamic terrorism for the blight on society that it is, choosing instead to call it unpatriotic and in fourth place comes yet another overpaid TV pundit who somehow links it to being the fault of Angry White Men flying Union Flags and/or Cross of St George, That is just sheer fuckwittery in my view.
