On the road in video.

Youtube channel update, June 2023.

Blog time : as I write it’s almost midsummer and for once we here in England are actually having a hot and dry summer (so far). The downside is that iv’e had horrible hayfever for the best part of 3 weeks and iv’e all-but used up our tanked rainwater to keep the veggie garden going ; odd to say but I really wish it would rain.

On the Pathfinder build project side of things I am taking a break now that I know that i’m not going to get the sails on and launch the boat. As I write iv’e just cancelled our proposed Norfolk launch trip – we were going to extend a camping trip by taking the boat with us and chucking it in the water at Wells on Sea but we can neither sail it or treat it as a small motor launch and nor can we store the trailer anywhere when we get there so with it being a very long drive we’ve knocked that great idea on the head for now.

What I have been doing is concentrating on filming and editing video segments that support my blog posts, in time I think they will supplant my written blogs and the support will then be the other way round. A bit like my blog posts I think of my video posts as being in threads or series, the road series is just about complete now in that I finished setting up the boat and trailer a few weeks ago and we did our first successful road trip – i’m really pleased about that because the whole idea behind WABI IV is to keep her at home and go out on trips as and when I can.

Anyway, here’s the road series of video posts as they are up to the end of June.

1.Trailer Trash Talk. Finding a trailer manufacturer, having the trailer built slightly custom and getting the boat onto the trailer chassis for the first time.

2, One for the road. All about the miriad of details to get the boat balanced on the trailer with the right amount of weight on the draw bar, supporting the boat properly, making and fitting an extended draw bar and finally lashing it all down.

3.Finally ‘on the road’ for a short road trip without trashing it on the way out of our drive, not hitting any badly parked cars in the village and our first take on a pair of tight and blind corners.

Seeing these short video segments again does make me smile a bit especially when I see what ‘caption guy’ added to them as I was editing them…..yes, we seem to have acquired a new member of Dirtywetdog staff and i’m calling him the ‘caption guy’.

I hope you watch them and enjoy, gaining views , subscribers and conversation is what it’s all about for me now ; I was sad this morning when I went to bed last night with 392 subscribers and woke up with only 391 – so if anyone finds the missing subscriber please send them back this way.

Have a great weekend everyone.
